First appearance of Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz
First of all, the over all show was not bad. A lot of people enjoyed the fact that it was not on pay-per-view which may have engaged more viewers. The card wasn't too bad either, featuring a ladies fight ( Santos vs. Akano), an all out war (Radach vs. Smith) and some big names in the Main Event ( Shamrock vs. Diaz)
Some fans thought the show was a great start for Strikeforce, although none of the fights went the distance. This is good to because we all want to see submissions and knockouts to end the fights, just not to early.
A couple of big points of interest were the fact that Christine "Cyborg" Santos almost didn't get to fight because of not making weight. She came in over the 6 pound variance allowed by the Ca. commission. Akano accepted the fight anyway and gave up a huge weight advantage to Santos which lost Akano the fight.
In the Main Event it was the Nick Diaz show, taunting and talking to Shamrock throughout the whole fight. Some say that Nick owned Frank in the fight and that blow to the ribs sealed the deal putting Shamrock down for the night. Nick did show some respect to the MMA pioneer by helping him up off of the mat and raising Frank's arm.
I can't wait to see the next one and maybe they will put together the Ken Shamrock vs. Kimbo Slice fight.
