UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida Results
What a night for the UFC. Great bouts a couple of knockouts. Results that sometimes surprised. Let's get to it.
Sean Sherk Vs. Frank Edgar
Frank Edgar Wins by Unanimous Decision at 5:00 in the 3rd round . Frank stuck enough and kept moving forward in the fight enough to garner the decision. Sherk just didn't bring it tonight.
Dan Miller Vs. Chael Sonnen
Chael Sonnen Wins by Unanimous Decision at 5:00 in the 3rd round .
Sonnen showed us just enough to win the decision. Not a glamourous fight but a win none the less.
Drew McFedries Vs. Xavier Foupa-Pokam
Drew McFedries Wins by Technical Knock Out at 0:37 in the 1st round .
I know Professor X can fight, I've seen some of his other non-ufc battles where he just pummels his opponents. His last two UFC appearances have been disapointing to me. I am still not losing faith, hopefully he will get another chance to show off his abilities.
Matt Hughes Vs. Matt Serra
Matt Hughes Wins by Unanimous Decision at 5:00 in the 3rd round .
Neither of these fighters looked great. It's no secret that I am not a Serra fan but the fight squared off dead even until the second round when Hughes pushed forward just enough for the win.
Rashad Evans Vs. Lyoto Machida
Lyoto Machida Wins by Knock Out at 3:57 in the 2nd round .
By far the best match of the night. Lyoto as expected laid back to wait out aggression by Evans. When Evans did not bring the fight Machida answered with combination blows to the body and head that put Evans on the mat cold taking Machida to 15-0 in the octagon and handing EVans his first loss by way of knockout.
